The Area
Explore the Local Area
Peaceful countryside, rich history, and beautiful places to explore
We are located in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir, a peaceful and picturesque part of the Leicestershire countryside, known for its diverse wildlife, charming villages, and unspoilt rural beauty. Just a short distance from the annexe, you'll find a range of local attractions, scenic walks, and unique places to visit.
Belvoir Castle & The Engine Yard
Only a 3-minute drive away, Belvoir Castle is one of the area's most iconic landmarks. Open to the public, the castle and its grounds offer a rich sense of history, beautifully maintained gardens, and stunning views across the Vale.
Also within the Belvoir Estate, you’ll find The Engine Yard—a characterful retail village set within restored 19th-century buildings. It’s a lovely place to spend an afternoon browsing the independent shops, visiting the garden centre, or simply soaking up the atmosphere.
Local Walks & Surroundings
The Paddock is located just half a mile from the village of Redmile, right beside the Grantham Canal. Whether you're looking for a gentle stroll or a longer countryside ramble, the area offers a variety of scenic routes. You’ll find:
-
Canal-side walks with peaceful water views
-
Quiet country lanes ideal for walking or cycling
-
Public footpaths and off-the-beaten-track trails through fields and woodland
We’re always happy to recommend walking routes or point you toward local maps and guides.
